Kapooka Early Childhood Centre

 Our Preschool Adventures

Kapooka Early Childhood Centre has enjoyed an exciting and busy Term 3. In addition to our engaging and vibrant preschool program and our ‘Out Bush’ experiences, we have continued to engage with our wider community and incorporated several extra curricula activities.

Our Thursday children visited the Kurrajong Waratah Recycling Centre and this was an amazing experience. It img_3651provided a wonderful opportunity to consolidate the children’s knowledge and understanding of the terms REDUCE, RE-USE & RECYCLE in the most practical way! The children loved watching the trucks unload their recycling and the bulldozer pushing it towards the sorting travelator. Once all the recycling has been sorted and catergorised it is then packaged accordingly and sold on to other specialised recyclers. Additionally, the recycling centre provides workplace opportunities for people with disabilities and creates greater awareness of their capabilities, and the significant contribution they can make to the life of their community.

Our Friday children were also ‘out & about’ this term, making a trip to the Wagga Wagga Show! Our children, parents and educators had a great day. They particularly loved spending time in the animal nursery patting and chatting with the inhabitants! The sheep dog trials, spinners and weavers, crocodile encounter, trip down side show alley and our turn on the clowns were all wonderful learning experiences! We ended our day with a visit to the ‘Facing Painting Fairies’ and collected a special ‘Show Bag’ treat on our way home!

We participated in several challenging games and activities and finished with the competitive game of ‘Birds Nest’ which was won by the Kapooka Reddies! Our educators were extremely proud of our sportsmanship, skill level, sense of pride, awareness of fair play, teamwork, persistence and most of all our ability to have fun with our family and friends. The day ended with our medal ceremony where Renee presented each child with their gold medal for “enthusiastic participation and commitment to the Olympic spirit.”

We also celebrated our love for books and participated in our Book Week parade! We had lots of fun dressing up as our favourite book characters and sharing our stories with our preschool friends!

During the end of our preschool term we all pulled out our footy gear in support of the Fighting Cancer Foundation kapooka-public-weband participated in the ‘Footy Colours Day’ fundraiser. We enjoyed lots of footy games and raised $74 for the charity.

We would love for you to join us for our adventures!
