Defence Bank K-series

THE 2016 Kapooka K-Series was once again a resounding success according to organiser Maj Jon Morgan.

“21 teams from across the ADF fought valiantly in five different sporting competitions, with the troops from the Adelaide-based ACR Squadron travelling the furthest,” he said.

“This time we invited some local civilian teams along to take part and they not only added to the competitiveness of the day, but on all accounts thoroughly enjoyed themselves.” Comdt ARTC Col Mick Garraway thanked all the team captains and management who competed in the K-Series.

“I know it’s a lot of effort to put a heap of hooligans on a bus and bring them back here to the home of the soldier, so for those who stood up to the plate, well done,” he said.

“Thanks also to the civilian teams who turned up. “Most of the civvy teams dusted us up.

“So I think that’s a pretty good indication of how far our sport has sunk in recent years, so on days like today it’s really important for us to get together and reinvigorate Army sports, so thanks for being here.”

Maj Morgan said he would encourage ADF sporting teams to start planning now to send a team to the next K-Series in March 2017.

This year the Kapooka teams are sponsored by:  Defence Bank, Sharpshots Photography, The Victoria Hotel, Aussie Disposals and LADEX Construction Group.
